Welcome to QMUG/LA’s *4th* Annual Absolutely Fabulous Gay Software Review & Disks!

Part of QMUG/LA’s raison d’etre is to represent and present the lesbian, gay and bisexual point of view of and perspective on the Macintosh, to provide a social context in which lesbian, gay and bisexual Macintosh users can meet, and to show how much fun and what a joy using the Macintosh is. No meeting quite captures these points quite like our annual Absolutely Fabulous Gay Software Review.

What *is* “gay” software? One of the reasons the Macintosh is so much fun and such a joy is its ability to be easily customized, personalized, and otherwise hacked w/ startup screens, sounds, zipples, desktop patterns, icons, third party control panels and extensions, etc., and what better way for lesbian, gay and bisexual Macintosh users to get these items than from QMUG/LA and its annual gay software disks?!!

The big challenge *this* year was simply to find stuff that would *fit* on a floppy! Everything’s become so huge! Another trend this year is to emphasize applications and sounds, with only *one* control panel and absolutely *no* extensions(!). In fact, this year is a smorgasborg of sound: from touch tone and karaoke Jingle Bells, and a QuickTime MIDI Xmas Jukebox, through classical Copland, and pop Garbage...

And through country Jambali, and the Maple Leaf Rag, to an excellent heavy-bass synth-dance soundtrack! Other gems include four desktop pictures for the interior decorator inside of *you*, three truly useful Apple PDF files on why Macs are so great, the latest version of Disinfectant, a great game of Tic-Tac-Toe, an excellent browser utility, and the soundtrack to Apple’s excellent “Think Different” commercial.

Whew! And with that, enjoy!
