Hey there Maria, Lawrence,

Thank you Maria for the two brief moments — right after Steve Jobs’ Macworld Expo/SF 2003 Keynote and right before you dashed off to start your vacation — to chat w/ you about our Macintosh user group’s interest in having someone from the Apple Store make a brief presenta- tion on iPhoto.  If I recall correctly, you seemed to not see any problem w/ that, but could not confirm at that time.

At your request, I finally had a chance to speak w/ Amy about this, and she confirmed that we could schedule a presentation at the Apple Store, but that employees of the Apple Store could not make presentations out- side the Apple Store as representatives of the Apple Store.  I totally re- spect that, and I wouldn’t want to do and wouldn’t want anyone else to do anything that would jeopardize their job.

As you may know, I first began trying to arrange something w/ the Ap- ple Store way back in mid-December, and then followed up in mid-Janu- ary, and in both cases extended the option of us having our meeting at the Apple Store, which would not have been a problem then since the Apple Store had nothing scheduled on Monday nights.  However be- ginning w/ February, you now have business seminars.

W/ this bit of history, I have one last request to make on this, and that is, to stay w/in the Apple Store’s policies, to have Lawrence, if he’s in- terested, make a short presentation on iPhoto for us at Dr. Rawstock notas an Apple Store employee but as someone who happens to know a lot about iPhoto.  We would really love to have someone show it off and also be able to answer questions about it intelligently.

I am asking for your blessing on this, for us and for Lawrence, so QMUG/LA can stay in your good graces and Lawrence doesn’t have to worry about jeopardizing his employment w/ you.  Enclosed is a map to show how close Dr. Rawstock is to the Apple Store and a sample of our handout for the meeting.  I really do hope we can make this happen, and I would be eternally grateful to you for your okay.

Sincerely,
Doan Thiel Stafford
